My Countdown..

December has come in and left us feeling chilly so far. We made it almost two days in before it snowed enough that we still have some left over on the ground. We are expecting more today and again later in the coming week. I have had to dig out my winter gear to bundle up to make my barn outings a little more comfortable. I have even talked myself into bringing some tack home little by little to give it a good cleaning and conditioning… spread out on the kitchen floor of our duplex..

This past week we had some work done on the two older horses, Spunky and Buster. They got a massage and were treated with a Magnawave which is a PEMF machine. They both seemed to enjoy themselves and it seems to have helped with some mobility for both. Spunky, as I suspected had some soreness in her back and her hind end. I noticed while giving lessons, the last few times she was either picking up her leads incorrectly or she was crossfiring, which means she was on one lead in the front end and the opposite lead in the hind end. We have some recommendations to get her adjusted by a chiropractor and I will probably get her tested for Lyme Disease when our vet comes to do their spring work.

So on the agenda for our spring vet visit: teeth checked and floated for Spunky, vaccines for everyone, and possibly getting x-rays for Fern to make sure she’s set to start riding her in her two year old year. In preparation for Fern turning two, I bought a new helmet and when Joe asked me why, I told him incase Fern decided to YEET me when I get on her. I don’t think she will be bronc-y but she is a baby so there’s always a chance..
