The Shortest Day of 2025!

Well.. It’s that time of the year. Today is the winter solstice which means its the shortest day of the year. I, for one, am very excited for the days to start getting longer around here. With Fern coming up on her two year old year, I plan on taking advantage of the extra sunlight come January to get to do some more ground work with her. Now I don’t necessarily get along 100% with my aunt, but she did do good work getting Spunky broke out when she had her for the summer. She took some time to show me the things she did with her and I plan on doing some of those same things.

Now Fern already lunges pretty well so we will keep building on that, along with groundwork to get her moving all the parts of her body and doing some work with a flag that can desensitize her to random things that might jump out at her off property. I also plan on teaching her how to ground drive that way she’s used to steering without me being on her. What I haven’t figured out yet, is if I am going to start her in a loping hackamore, side pull, or a nice little o-ring.

This seems like it’s going to be a short blog post, instead of my normal ramblings that way I can save whoever, if anyone, reads this. Short and sweet today.. just like the amount of sunlight we will be getting!
