Changing landscape..
In recent years, there has been an uptick of developments taking over our neck of the woods. In 2019, the changing landscape started when a friend of the family, Ed, sold his place right down the road from the farm. There was about 125+ acres there that had dairy farm/farm land on three sides and a big fancy development on the other. Unfortunately for us and the few neighbors with modest sized houses on a few acres, it was bought by a developer who just started breaking ground this fall.
Now the buildings and barns that were on Ed’s old property were torn down not long after he moved out, but it remained farm land and was farmed by friends of my family. This 2025 season was the last time that ground will be used as farm land. Seeing the big machinery come in and move dirt, creating roads and man made water front is hard to watch. I can picture the barns, buildings and horses being there like I just drove past them standing this morning.
Today I am grateful for how things have worked out with me not being able to buy grandpa’s farm because I don’t like the idea of seeing that new development across the road from what was our beautiful horse farm years down the road. I am hopeful for what the next 10 months have in store for us as we save our pennies and look for a place to call our own. I know there is something out there for us that will be the right fit, the right timing, and the right circumstances will come our way, God willing.
